About Our Honey
Most honeys are marketed by the source of the nectar. For example, nectar gathered from clover will become white, mild clover honey. Nectar derived from asters in the fall will give a richer tasting, very gold aster honey.
The other component to marketing honey is whether or not it has been pasteurized. Pasteurization is merely the process of heating and maintaining that heat for a certain time in order to sterilize the product of unwanted microbes.
We market our honey differently! We only separate and sell 2 honeys. We have Spring/Summer and Fall honeys. Why? Because most of our customers are using our honey for allergy therapy.
How does this work? Any allergy is triggered when an allergen (for example, tree pollen) is in such abundance in the environment that it exceeds the human body's allergy threshold and triggers allergy reactions. Yes, the red, runny eyes and noses. This is our bodies defensive mechanism to try and contain all the foreign proteins entering our bodies.
Allergy therapy works like this. First of all, you must know what your allergy is! For example, ragweed and spring tree pollen are quite common allergies. Be sure to consume honey, unpasteurized, that has been collected during the season you experience allergic reactions (spring or fall).
Here is the body of science to it. Most customers on the allergy therapy would consume 1 tbsp per day all year of raw honey collected during their season of allergy. Within this raw honey are the particles of pollen that will “irritate” your immune system. Your body will realize there are foreign proteins you are allergic to, but since you are consuming these allergens in small quantities you will not mount a full blown allergic reaction.
Eventually, you should build up some immune resistance so it will take a lot to trigger an allergic reaction. This therapy is not a cure, by no means, but really does offer some relief.
Anyways, it sure is a tastier way to trying to treat your allergies than swallowing a pill!
